H&M Survey for Crane Damage

Background

The onboard #1 crane jib with loaded grab had crashed down onto the forecastle of lightering barge which was moored to the Stbd side of said vessel for the receipt of cargo.

Scope of work

H&M Survey onboard the vessel to investigate and identify cause and extent of damages to Crane, ship’s structure and other 3^rd party damages.
The extent of damage was identified:
- Crane jib structure found ruptured.
- Luffing wire and hoisting wire found fractured.
- Jib cross members found damaged and twisted
- #1 Cargo hold hatch covers found damaged / dented due to impact of crane jib.
Cause of Damage was identified to be failure of luffing wire.
Nature of repair was identified
Estimated cost of repair was concluded

Provisional time for repairs to be effected was estimated
