CFD for Bow Optimization

CFD techniques were used to evaluate the total resistance for a single speed of vessel for various forms/ bow shapes. The optimized bow shape will reduce the ship's wave-making resistance significantly and consequently improve its fuel efficiency.

As shown in the figure below for a VLCC Bow, a range of different bow designs were analysed to find out their respective advantages and disadvantages. Then an optimum solution is provided to the clients based on their specific requirements.
